Biography
Jenny Clark Schiff, PhD, MA, MA joined the 成人快手 in August 2026 as an assistant professor at the Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities in the Institute for Health & Humanity. She serves as Lead Ethicist for Froedtert Hospital. Prior to joining 成人快手, she completed a two-year Clinical Ethics Fellowship at the Laurie J. Girand Center for Biomedical Ethics at Stanford where she was a member of the clinical ethics consultation team for Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from The Graduate Center of The City University of New York.
Dr. Schiff’s research focuses on informed consent in reproductive healthcare, disability ethics (especially related to “invisible" or “non-apparent” disabilities), the interface between disability and chronic illness, and bioethical issues in sport (especially in the youth/pediatric setting). More broadly, Dr. Schiff studies professionalism in medicine and the scope of healthcare professionals’ social responsibilities. Her research has been published in JAMA and The Hastings Center Report.
Dr. Schiff's dissertation examined the ethical dimensions of caring for patients with infection-associated chronic illnesses (IACIs) such as Long COVID, myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Dr. Schiff is interested in how to improve the doctor-patient relationship in settings of uncertainty and, ultimately, how to design healthcare systems for patients with IACIs in a more just and humane manner.
While pursuing her PhD, Dr. Schiff was an Ethics Fellow, and then a Senior Ethics Fellow, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she facilitated ethics didactic sessions for medical students and various residency programs. She has also taught bioethics and philosophy courses to graduate students at New York University and undergraduate students at The City College of New York.
Dr. Schiff is a 2014 recipient of a Fulbright research grant to study Philosophy and Education in Italy. She has an MA in Italian Literature and an MA in English Education, both from Columbia University.
Dr. Schiff was a four-year member of the Varsity Women’s Lacrosse team as an undergraduate at Columbia and served as Co-Captain her senior year. She is a cellist in the 成人快手 Orchestra. She enjoys following international women’s soccer and likes watercolor painting.
