OTTAWA, KS – 成人快手 announces the appointment of Dr. Kevin Maret as the new President of OU Professional and Online. He began his duties on July 1, 2025, at the University’s Overland Park, Kansas campus.
Maret has been an active and engaged member of the 成人快手 family since joining the music faculty at the Ottawa residential campus in 2018. Over his time at OU, he has taken on a series of increasingly important administrative roles, from directing the athletic bands and wind ensemble, to chairing the Music Department and the Creative Arts Division, to becoming Acting Academic Dean for the Ottawa campus and Academic Dean for OU Online, before assuming his current role as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences last year. In all these positions, Maret has distinguished himself as a collaborative, collegial, and results-oriented leader with a particular talent for working with faculty, staff, and external partners to establish and nurture new academic programs.
“Kevin Maret has a passion for the University’s mission and a deep understanding of OU and OU Online, including its growing international and health sciences programs,” said University Chancellor Bill Tsutsui. “Couple that knowledge with strong communication skills and a clear vision for future growth, he is well prepared to lead OU Professional and Online forward.”
Developing and implementing several academic programs has been a key part of the work as the Dean of Arts and Sciences. The MSN international program has been a major success, enrolling more than 250 students in the first year. “We launched the MS in Computer Science this semester and anticipate starting the MS in Physician Assistant Studies in January of 2026,” said Maret. “I'm excited to work alongside the faculty and staff as we shape these and future programs at 成人快手.”
He also brings wide and deep experience as a teacher, performer, and leader to his new position. Maret earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Music Education and Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance degrees from the UMKC Conservatory of Music. In addition to teaching at McKendree and Grace Universities, he has extensive experience at the K-12 level, serving as the band director in the Kearney and St. Joseph School Districts and in a variety of roles at the Topeka Public Schools. Maret served our nation for more than two decades in the US Air Force and Air National Guard, retiring as a Master Sargeant after performing as a percussionist at venues around the world, including for US troops in Afghanistan and at the White House.
Maret and his wife Darcy have two children, Alexander and Madeline.
